The Government has this week announced it will award Brean with more than £84,000 to deliver the new cycle path which will connect the village to Weston.

The money is part of the coastal communities fund and Wells MP James Heappey said it is ‘great news’ as it will increase footfall in the area over the busy summer period.

This comes a week after Sedgemoor District Council handed the project – which is being organised by Greenways and Cycleroutes Limited – £2,494.17.

The path will be called the Brean Way and its final cost will be around £200,000, with it set to open on May 1.
