A HUSBAND and wife team from Portishead, who sell jewellery at markets and fairs, have diversified to help people during the credit crunch.

Paul and Margaret Morahan decided to start their own business last year but wanted to do something a bit different.

They decided to combine bizarre real insect necklaces and gothic pieces with the beautiful timeless designs of companies like Tiffany and their business Bizzar and Beautiful was born.

Paul said: "The business really took off in the run up to Christmas.

"However, our customers kept saying they loved our expensive jewellery but in the recession could not warrant spending a lot of money on something they would only wear on special occasions.

"That's when we decided to diversify and offer jewellery hire."

The business now offers a wide range of wedding and prom jewellery for hire to clients within North Somerset and hope to move into shop premises when the economy improves.

For the time being Bizzar and Beautiful can be found at the Poacher in Portishead High Street on Fridays and Saturdays between 11am-5pm.
