A COLOURFULLY painted boat has come up smelling of roses in a second victory for Flower Power. The made-over boat has been filled with flowers and placed on the roundabout by Ebdon Road and Queens Way in Worle in preparation for the South West in Bloom competition. A green-fingered team is busy making the town look radiant before judging begins later this summer. The floral train will also be recreated in Alexandra Parade as this year's competition begins to hot up. Last year, Flower Power members claimed a silver medal in the annual floral competition, and the Sergeant Cup for work achieved with communities and neighbourhoods.Flower Power is an initiative set up by Weston Tourism and Weston Town Council, supported by the Weston & Somerset Mercury. Other plans include a floral seat outside Lloyd's Bank in the High Street in Worle and hanging baskets outside Weston Police Station in Walliscote Road.Local businesses will be asked to sponsor floral arrangements.
