The Somerset branch of leading charity Age UK has launched a new social group for the elderly, in an effort to prevent them feeling ‘lonely and isolated’.

This seniors group, which will take place at the Royal British Legion Club, in Victoria Street, Burnham, is for people over the age of 55 and is called Something to Do.

This bi-monthly group will begin on July 11 and take place every second and fourth Monday of the month, in partnership with Burnham’s Hands Of Change volunteers group.

Angi Lewis from Age UK said: “The new social activities group is to help relieve loneliness and isolation.”
