A CAR crash in Cheddar has left one man dead and a woman injured. The collision happened on May 26 at around 10.30am when a Volvo 460, travelling along Wideatts Road towards Axbridge, collided with an Audi A3 travelling in the opposite direction. The driver of the Volvo, believed to be in his 50s and from Hampshire, died at the scene. An air ambulance was called but it was too late to save him. A female witness from Axbridge made the 999 call after seeing the incident near the junction of Fiveways Close. Police say an initial examination at the scene showed the man may have suffered from a heart condition, although a final report has not yet been carried out. They are now investigating the crash and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it. Anyone who can help should call 0845 456 7000.
