Five shours and counting so far this weekend for the Weston-super-Mare RNLI volunteers

Weston’s lifeboat crew have faced an extremely busy weekend so far.

The volunteer RNLI crews were on station all day yesterday (Saturday) to provide cover for Weston Air Day.

In between they dealt with four shouts in Weston Bay and two first aid casualties who came to the lifeboat station.

The first launch on Saturday morning was to a person in the water on the low tide line, who managed to make their way unaided back to the beach.

This set the scene for the day, with two more incidences of people in difficulty resolved before the lifeboat reached them.

Returning from the third, the crew were asked by Milford Haven Coastguard to divert to a report of people stuck in the mud.

At 10am this morning (Sunday) the crew were called out again to reports of two people trapped on Birnbeck Island.
