DOZENS of new jobs have been created after the completion of a multi-million pound retail and restaurant development at Bristol International Airport. The jobs boost comes as a £7million project to improve shops and restaurants at the expanding Lulsgate airport was unveiled.Airport bosses say the 85 jobs were created because of the opening of a restaurant, a variety of shops and coffee shops around the departure lounge. Half of the jobs are in shops with the other half split between the restaurant and employing extra security guards. The scheme has increased the number of shops and restaurants from nine to 15 and includes high street names such as WH Smith, Superdrug and Starbucks coffee shop.Bosses have made the investment to meet the airport's growth over the last five years. It is now the ninth largest in the UK. The build, which started in January, has also seen the current duty free shop owned by Nuance grow by a half.More than five million passengers are expected to pass through the airport's departure lounges this year on their way to 115 destinations.Bristol International Airport finance director Jim McAuliffe said: "We have worked hard to respond to the growing and varied demands of our passengers looking for special presents, designer bargains and last-minute holiday purchases.
