Out of 25 test purchases in the district, seven sold alcohol to under aged drinkers. This is a 72 per cent compliance when the national average is 82 per cent.
By law Trading Standards are only allowed to carry out test purchases and prosecute for illegal sales to minors. Other offences such as under age drinking and adults purchasing alcohol for youngsters can only be enforced by police.
