DOZENS of dogs and their owners held a charity fundraiser at a miniature railway site in Weston.

About £60 was raised for Dogs Friends and priceless equipment including blankets, food and towels were donated. The money and donations will go towards supporting abandoned or impounded dogs.

Georgina Peacock who helped organise Sunday’s event said it was a good day.

She said: “Every year for the past eight or nine years we have held a Westie Walk as the dogs like going on the train.”

About 20 West Highland Terriers took part this year although the event was tinged with sadness.

Railway owner Bob Bullock is retiring later this year and Ms Peacock thanked him and his wife Sue for backing the event.

She said: “We would like to thank them for the support over the years. They are both fabulous.”
