WESTON'S Multicultural Friendship Association has held a picnic in the park.

Members of the group – which promotes ‘friendship, mutual respect and understanding between people of different cultures’ – were invited for a cream tea by mayor Roz Willis.

More than 50 people attended the event with their families and enjoyed a cream tea in the mayor’s parlour before spilling out into the park for a belated Easter picnic.

Richard Knowles, from the association, said: “We went into the park and we had Easter eggs hidden all around the place and got the children to look for the eggs and at the same time we had a picnic.”

The society’s next event is a craft workshop which will take place from 1-3pm on Tuesday at The Badger Centre in Wadham Street.
