DANGEROUS potholes are causing concern in Chapel Allerton.

The parish council is appealing to Somerset Highways to get the holes in the road filled in and for the sides of the road to be maintained as the tarmac is wearing away.

Because there are no speed limits or pavements through Chapel and Stone Allerton, villagers are concerned the poor state of the roads could cause accidents.

Parish council clerk Gerald Prince said: "Somerset Highways hasn't been very good at filling in potholes and doing the sides of the road where there's no pavement.

"Over time the road sides collapse so we really want to have a meeting with the agency to get it sorted out."

The council is also pushing for signs to be put up warning motorists that there are children in the village.

Members are hoping to set up a meeting with the highways agency to get the problems fixed.
