Ambulance service needs more helpers

A WESTON first aid group which has been running for 10 years is appealing for more volunteers.

Wessex Ambulance Service is a registered charity which provides ambulance cover and help at events such as football matches, carnivals, fun days and equestrian events across the South West.

Godfrey Horler, aged 66, a volunteer in the service since it started a decade ago, and said: “We are here to help the community and we supply all of the training and uniforms for volunteers.

“We are now down to about half a dozen volunteers and we are struggling.

“We can keep going but we need some more people in to help and become part of the team.”

There is no upper age limit for those interested in joining Wessex Ambulance Service but volunteers must be over the age of 18.

The group meets every Monday at 7pm at Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, in Hutton Moor Road.
