ANGLERS from across North Somerset have raised more than £2,000 to pay for a special holiday for a Clevedon family.
Weston Outcasts organised the match on Clevedon Pier to raise money for Becky Buxton, aged 25, who suffers from hepatosplenic gamadelta t-cell lymphoma – an extremely rare and aggressive cancer.
Becky was born in Amsterdam, and wants show her husband Chris and children Ava May, aged two, and Charlie, aged nine months, where she grew up.
Her husband Chris is a member of Weston Outcasts and the group decided to try to raise the cash for their holiday by holding a charity match.
Forty anglers took part in the fundraiser on Sunday and scores of people turned up to watch and support.
Steve Debruin, from the club, said: “We’d like to thank everybody who came to fish and enjoyed an extremely pleasurable day on Clevedon Pier.
“We hope Becky, Chris and their family enjoy all the money raised for a fantastic time together.”
The money has yet to be counted up, but the club estimates the event raised close to £2,500.
