Anika Tunstall, who lives in Meadowbank, entered a competition to have her work featured at The Society Of Women Artists.

The oil painting is of her daughter Laynie, and much of her work focuses on her children. Anika, aged 28, said: “I have been drawing since I was little, but it’s just in the past few years since my daughter started school I have been trying to do it as a career.

“I have always painted my children. I like to paint what’s important to me.

“I couldn’t believe it when I heard my painting had been selected. It didn’t sink in for about a week.”

The exhibition will be opened at The Mall Galleries by Princess Michael of Kent in June.
