A POLICE search is underway after the ‘callous’ theft of a wheelchair from a care home.

Between 4-4.30pm on June 18 two women walked into Diamond Court Care Home in Diamond Batch in Worle, and attempted to take an electric mobility scooter.

When they were unable to take the scooter, they walked out of the building with a wheelchair instead.

PCSO Michael Benfield said: “This was a callous crime that has left a man, who is resident at the home, unable to leave the premises as he cannot walk very far.

“I would urge anyone who knows who took this wheelchair to come forward.”

The police want to speak to two women, who are described as between 16 and 18 years old, who were both wearing white shirts and black trousers or leggings.

One was of a slim build and the other was of a medium build.

Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
