BRITISH Transport Police officers investigating a railway trespass offence are appealing for the public's help to trace two youths who are believed to have information to assist their investigation.

Two youngsters were reported to be trespassing on the railway tracks

The two youths were caught on CCTV at Highbridge and Burnham railway station on Sunday September 19.

Concerned members of the public reported seeing two boys aged around 12 years old trespassing on the tracks at around 4.15pm on September 19.

PC Andy Boston, investigating officer, said: “We have now viewed CCTV images taken from the station and have identified two youths who we would like to speak to in connection with this incident.

“I would urge anyone who knows the identity of the boys to contact BTP straight away.

“Anyone who trespasses on the rail network is putting their own lives, as well as those of rail staff and passengers at risk.

“The railway is an extremely dangerous environment and should never be treated as a playground or somewhere to hang about.

“Unlike cars on the road, trains have no way of stopping quickly or swerving to avoid people.

“BTP works closely with Network Rail and train operating companies to deliver safety messages and educate young people about the dangers of the railway.”

Anyone who knows the identity of the youths in the CCTV images is urged to contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040, quoting incident number B11/WF 0f 04/11/2010 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
