TRADING Standards chiefs have launched a scam wise campaign to help consumers avoid being caught by rogue traders.As part of National Consumers Week, North Somerset Trading Standards service is participating in the launch of Scam Wise South West, a campaign by all Trading Standards services in the South West. A new leaflet has been launched which provides details of some of the best known scams plus information on how to deal with them and who to contact for advice.Advice on how to reduce junk mail, avoid telesales calls and spot internet scams is included.There are also tips to help with unwanted doorstep sellers and Trading Standards has several thousand free stickers to give away which state 'No Doorstep Sellers'.North Somerset Council executive member for environment and community said: "Rogue traders should be aware that we are working together and sharing intelligence with the police and our trading standards colleagues throughout the South West."The leaflet is available at www.tradingstandards.gov.uk/northsomerset Anyone who has been the victim of a scam can contact the advice line on 0845 404 0506.
