A Somerset armed forces charity has opened a new division in Weston - but needs volunteers.

SSAFA Somerset has more than 7,000 volunteers and is recruiting for a host of different roles in Weston where the only requirement is to have a ‘happy face and warm heart’.

Pauline Homeshaw, a SSAFA Somerset volunteer, said: “In Somerset, we have seen the welfare needs of the local armed forces community become more complex.

“As a result we need more local volunteers. SSAFA is looking for anyone willing to help provide a lifeline to veterans and their families.”
