A FREE event to celebrate the work of the armed forces has been announced in Weston on June 26.

The armed forces day event has been organised by Weston Town Council, and will take place at Clarence Park East, with a drumhead service starting at 4pm being followed by a sunset ceremony at 6pm.

Past and present members of the armed forces, including currently serving troops, will be at the event, with members of the public being advised to get to the park for 3.30pm for a march of standard bearers.

Town clerk Malcolm Nicholson said: “The event is free and open to anyone wishing to come and listen to the service and the fantastic RAFA Band. Feel free to join us and bring your own chairs and rugs.”
