WESTON'S Armed Forces Day has been condensed into a single day event after its main organiser resigned from two local authorities.

The celebration of local service personnel, originally planned as a two-day event, has now been changed to a single day to be held from 10am-6pm on June 29, after previous organiser Philip Judd resigned from Weston Town Council and North Somerset Council.

Town centre manager Steve Townsend is now in charge of the event and confirmed the changes.

He said: “We made the decision to amalgamate the two days into one.

“Phil Judd was the main organiser of it. We didn’t have all the information we needed to do two days.

“We are going to bring it all into the Saturday and really focus on it and give it 200 per cent.”
