AN ARMED man who brought massive disruption to the railway network last night (Mon) has been arrested by police.

The 25-year-old man was caught by police in Brunel’s Way, Highbridge, at about 9.40pm.

An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesman said the man was found with a ‘knife blade or sharp article’ and was arrested after making threats to kill.

Police were first called to Marine Drive – 1.5miles away - at about 8pm after being alerted the man was causing problems.

Officers tried to speak to the man who then fled and a search began.

First Great Western services were disrupted throughout the evening after the man ran along the trackside. They resumed at about 11.30pm.
