A MAJOR Weston hotel which has been owned by the same family for nearly 60 years has been sold

A MAJOR Weston hotel which has been owned by the same family for nearly 60 years has been sold. The two-star Arosfa Hotel was opened in 1949 by Arnold and Vivian Freedman and now, 57 years later, the Freedman family has decided to sell up.Arnold and Vivian's son Michael sold the 47-bedroom hotel, in Lower Church Road, to Westbourne Hotels, of Bristol.Mr Freedman, who joined the business in 1974, said: "My parents and I will miss the Arosfa. It has been a big part of our lives, but it is time for a change."My parents retired from the business in the late 1970s, and together with my staff, I have run it since then."We have made many friends through the hotel, and it is the contact with so many different people that we will miss the most."We wish the new owners every success with their new venture. It is good to see the hotel going to a company with a young and enthusiastic management, keen to take The Arosfa to a bright future."I'm sure they will cater, as always, to the needs of the local community and visitors to Weston."The Arosfa is well known for its oak-panelled restaurant. It has a bar, lounge and conference and banqueting facilities for up to 150 people.
