A SPEED camera has been burnt out in the latest of a series of arson attacks. The fixed yellow GATSO camera, between two schools in Worle, was set on fire on April 14. Firefighters were called to the scene in New Bristol Road, Worle, to douse the flames on the £30,000 unit. The camera is on the busy main road which has a 30mph speed limit between Worle School and Mendip Green First School.Avon Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed fire investigation officers are looking into the incident. This is the latest in a series of attacks on safety cameras in the area.An Avon and Somerset Safety Camera Partnership spokesman said: "The camera will be repaired as soon as possible. We have experienced a series of vandalism attacks on that stretch of road."Even protesters who say speed cameras should not be used agree they are necessary outside schools."This camera is next to two schools, so what does that tell you about the people who did this? They are not interested in safety, just vandalism.
