Police officers in North Somerset will be raising awareness of hate crime thanks to a new design on one of the emergency response cars.

The marked car has had a makeover courtesy of AP Signs & Print of Weston who has donated the design and sponsored the car.

The car’s traditional blue and yellow markings merge into a spectrum of colours as well as the Police With Pride logo.

Officers launched the Hate Crime car at the No Place for Hate in North Somerset which took place in Weston last week.

The car was the brainchild of town centre PCSO Jeanie Thompson, who said: “No one should feel victimised because of their race, religion and faith, gender identity, sexual orientation or disability.

“We hope this fully operational police vehicle will be a highly visible reminder to our communities that we take all forms of hate crime seriously.”
