Witnesses to a serious accident between a cyclist and two vehicles this morning (Thursday) in Weston-super-Mare are being sought by police.

Drove Road has been shut for hours since the crash at about 8am.

It has reopened in the last few moments.

The Mercury has been told the female cyclist suffered a head injury and she has been taken to Southmead Hospital and a van was involved.

A police spokesman said: “We are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision in Weston today.

“The incident, involving a cyclist and two vehicles, happened at around 8am on Drove Road at the junction of Rectors Way.

“If you were you walking along Drove Road, or driving in that area at around 8am today, and you saw the collision or you have some information that could help with our investigation, please call 101, quoting reference number 5218007534, and ask to speak to the Collision Investigation Unit.”
