Money raised by a law firm has enabled Avon and Somerset Search and Rescue to upgrade two of its vehicles to help save lives and keep people out of danger.

Law firm TLT, which is based in Bristol, raised £8,547 for the rescue team in 2016/17 by choosing it as its charity of the year.

The money was raised through a series of events including a sponsored three peaks challenge which people from the firm and the search and rescue team took on together.

The funds were used to repair two rescue ambulances and fit them out with the latest computer systems which help to find missing people.

Chairman of the search and rescue team Chris Thring said: “These vehicles are essential to our search and rescue operations.

“We cover 1,800 square miles across Avon and Somerset, so we have to be as mobile as possible to support the police and community.”
