LISTENING to voices old and new, a club in Axbridge has collected familiar and not-so-familiar voices to remember times gone by.

This picture shows, a visitor to Axbridge during the Somerset showcase listening to the voice box, an audio box with 15 recorded clips from past mayors of the town.

Maggie Tur, leader of the voices of Axbridge has been the driving force behind the interviews.

She said: “We began to record the interviews with people of Axbridge about their time living here so we had something to record and document.

“Then we decided to interview the mayors about their time being a mayor in the town.

“It became a project and we now have 14 mayors including Jeremy Gall who was the mayor up until recently.”

The voice box plans to be put into Axbridge museum, however it needs to be securly placed and completely wired up.

The club are meeting next Monday evening at Axbridge Town Hall to discuss the box’s future.

If you think you have something to say, or for more information of the voice box contact Maggie on 01934 732855.
