Homeowner tied up and robbed by group of five men wearing Halloween masks

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was tied and up and robbed of more than £3,500.

The incident occurred on September 6 between midnight and 2am when there was a report of a break in at a house in Cheddar Road, in Axbridge.

Four or five men, wearing Halloween face masks and scarves, forced entry into the victim’s bungalow.

Once inside the offenders tied up the homeowner and threatened him with violence if he did not tell them where his valuables were stored.

An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: “The victim gave the offenders the key to his safe and they took more than £3,500 cash along with premium bonds, several watches, jewellery, a tie-pin and bank cards.

“The offenders were demanding Rolex watches but the victim had no Rolex watches.

“One of the men, who had his face partially covered with a scarf, is described as black.

“If you can help, please call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5218199683.”
