The retailer set to move into Weston’s former BHS store has applied for permission to display advertisements on the building.

The Mercury reported in June that B&M will move into the High Street unit which has been vacant since 2016.

Now the company is seeking permission from North Somerset Council to install three signs and three vinyls on the building’s windows.

No opening date for the new store has yet been confirmed by B&M.

The retailer also has a branch at the Gallagher Retail Park in Marchfields Way but it is understood this will be unaffected by the new store.

North Somerset Council told the Mercury B&M’s move shows confidence in Weston’s economy, although town centre manager Steve Townsend feels more fashion shops are needed.

The consultation period for this application expires on September 24 as is available to view on the council’s planning portal.
