Firefighters had come to the rescue after a one-year-old became stuck in a car.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called at 2.55pm today (Sunday) to Stoke Street in Rodney Stoke after the girl got locked in by accident.

A fire service spokesman said: “One pump from Cheddar station was mobilised following a call from the parents of a child who had accidentally become locked in a car in Rodney Stoke.

“On arrival crews found a one-year-old girl locked in a car, and as she was becoming distressed decided to break a window using small tools.

“Once she was released she was offered water to cool her down and recovered from her ordeal quickly.”
