Shoppers at Budgens in Cheddar raised more than £790 for St John Ambulance by making a donation when volunteers packed their goods.
Division president Huw Davies said: "The support from shoppers was brilliant and will allow us to deal with a number of projects planned for 2008."
The Cheddar branch of St John Ambulance is keen to hear from people who would like to become members. Anyone interested can visit the headquarters in The Bays on a Thursday evening or call Huw on 07884 261503.
