WESTON General Hospital's physiotherapy department has been helped to buy a new piece of equipment after a business' charity ball raised about £6,000.

The League of Friends accepted the donation from Weston accountancy firm Butterworth Jones.

The money has allowed Weston Area Health NHS Trust to buy a cough assisted machine.

It helps patients who have respiratory problems and with illnesses such as chronic bronchitis and chest infections.

The Friends’ June Stephen said: “We are most grateful to John Parker and Di Stanbury (of Butterworth Jones) for their generosity and patience.

“I am sure the machine will benefit a great many people.”
