CUSTOMERS and staff at two Weston businesses joined people across the world to release 50 yellow balloons to mark the 50 days since toddler Madeleine McCann went missing in Portugal.The four-year-old has been missing since May 3 and distraught parents Gerry and Kate have been working hard to keep the search for their daughter in the public eye. This balloon release event happened in 50 countries proving that the search for Madeleine has global support.Linda Vincent of The Bucket and Spade in Yew Tree Drive took part in the awareness event after reading Gerry McCann's diary online.About 40 mothers and children came together on June 22, despite the rain, to release the balloons at the Weston pub.Staff and owners at The Seaward Hotel in Knightstone Road also released 50 balloons to urge people in Weston to help maintain the profile of the Madeleine McCann case by visiting www.bringmadeleinehome.com and printing posters and raising awareness of the desperate search for the youngster.
