MEMBERS of Portishead Town Band who usually perform at concerts and formal public functions will be seen in an NHS sexual health commercial this year.

The online ad to promote chlamydia testing involves a young couple getting amorous before being unexpectedly interrupted by the town band.

The short film, produced by Bristol based OMNI productions on behalf of primary care trusts across the former Avon area is on You Tube or can be viewed by visiting www.chlamjam.com.

The directors said they wanted to make a noise about it and couldn't think of a better way than to use a brass band.

Portishead Town Band, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, also appears on You Tube in the recording of the charity record by Homebase sales assistant, Nigel Parker and That'll Be the Day cast, entitled I Wish I Could See Nigel Every Day.
