YOUNG musicians are invited to enter Weston's very own Pop Idol contest at Barcode next month.Weston Town Council has launched a Battle of the Bands competition where budding stars can take part in heats at the South Parade venue on Saturday nights throughout March. A grand final is scheduled for April 28 and the winners will be chosen from a panel of judges and members of the public. Prizes for the winning band include radio airplay, regular gigs and practice sessions at Barcode.The council has also teamed up with band organisers Prism Promotions to offer winners a slot on stage at the Midsummer Buzz music festival on June 9 at Hornets RFC.The average age of band members must be 18 for the main competition and a junior house band position will be available for groups with an average age of 16.
