Bandstand is being put back together

VISITORS to Weston's Grove Park will probably have noticed a hole where the historic bandstand once stood.
Every element of the Victorian stage had to be dismantled to be sent off for specialist repairs. But in the next few days the iconic structure will start to be reassembled into its recognisable shape.
North Somerset Council hopes all the parts will be in place by the end of next week and all repair work on the base will be completed by the end of August.
The pillars have been refurbished and repainted and are currently being put back in place, and the roof framework will be next, according to the authority.
The £100,000 scheme is being funded mainly by the council, along with donations of £10,000 from the Weston Trust, £500 from Weston Civic Society and £25,000 contributed by Weston Town Council. The bandstand is traditionally used by a number of local groups and performers to stage regular concerts during the summer months.
