HIS identity is a mystery – but that hasn’t stopped thousands of people from believing Bristol Airport should be renamed after street artist Banksy.
A survey carried out by travel company Holiday Extras has revealed more than 1,000 people across the region believe the airport should be renamed after the artist, in order to raise its international profile.
Banksy emerged as the frontrunner for a new name out of a choice of several famous locals, including John Cleese, Bill Bailey and JK Rowling.
Ant Clarke Cowell, communications director at Holiday Extras, said: “Banksy’s art has become a huge driver for tourism in the region. It’s great to see that recognised in this survey.”
