A NEIGHBOUR from hell has been banned from living in an area of Clevedon after causing residents months of misery.People living near Royston Barker in Hillview Avenue have been complaining for four months about his drunken, threatening and aggressive behaviour, and use of illegal drugs. He was staying as a guest at a home rented from North Somerset Housing but the social landlord soon became aware of the problems and, as a result, a court injunction has been handed to Mr Barker. The 33-year-old was given an antisocial behaviour injunction with an exclusion order which means he will be arrested if he tries to enter Hillview Avenue. He will also be taken in by police if he is caught threatening people with violence. The order lasts until May 23, 2008, when he will be allowed to return to the street.North Somerset Housing's area manager, Michelle Loveridge, said the ban was made possible thanks to people coming forward with valuable evidence which turned out to be crucial in getting a result in court. She said: "In these cases we have to compile sufficient evidence to convince the court that action needs to be taken. Most of this evidence is reliant on residents giving us information. Although in the early stages this was not forthcoming, we did later receive reports from people of late night visitors, drunken behaviour, threatening and aggressive behaviour and the use of illegal drugs."This meant that, together with the police and other agencies, we were able to put together a strong case."This is a good result for our estate management and antisocial behaviour teams but mostly it is a victory for law-abiding people who want to live in peace.
