A TOWN council has moved the venue of its committee meeting after the pub threatened to ban councillors from the premises.Axbridge town councillors were told they were not welcome at The Crown Inn after the pub had a row over displaying its signs.Bosses at the pub decided to threaten councillors with the ban after staff were stopped from putting an A-board sign on the pavement in St Marys Street. But the council's committees meet at the pubs in the town on a rota basis and were due to sit at The Crown on September 7 to talk about tourism and promotions.Councillors have now struck the pub off the list and meet at another watering hole.Mayor Barry Hamblin said: "It's a shame that we've had to stop meeting there and we'll have to go somewhere else instead."I went to see them about the A-boards as there had been some complaints and I haven't spoken to them since."Landlady Carolyn Hoyle-Johnson said: "We were always taking the ban in jest and did it with a smile on our faces."We hoped that people would have taken our stance more light-heartedly, but that just hasn't happened."Nobody from the council has come up and said anything about the A-boards and we don't know what the latest of the situation is.
