Banwell Gardening Club hosted its horticultural show at the village hall on Saturday, with dozens of high-quality exhibits on display.

Chairman Tom Couch said: “After the summer we had I was not expecting a lot but how wrong one can be, it was one of the best shows for vegetables we have had for ages.

“The standard of the veg was outstanding. Barry Taylor had a large cabbage you could not get two arms around, and the tallest sunflower was more 200cm.”

Mr Couch paid tribute to the efforts of show secretary Lyn Ralph and her helpers, and thanked villagers for supporting the event.
