Burnham Area Rescue Boat (BARB) team has donated valuable kit to an independent rescue charity in Wales.

Central Beacons mountain rescue team suffered a major fire to its headquarters in November 2017, which caused more than £500,000 worth of damage.

BARB got in touch with the charity to find out what equipment needed replacing and offered to donate several surplus water rescue kits.

Two of the Welsh charity’s members, Marc Benson and Greg Brown, visited the BARB team’s Marine Rescue Centre, in the Esplanade, to receive the kit and thank the crews for the donation.

Greg said: “Our water rescue gear was destroyed in the fire at our base, so we must give an enormous thanks to our colleagues at BARB for this wonderful gesture.

“As a result of this, our water search and rescue capability is now very close to being restored, which is vital to us.”
