Barmaids doing charity car wash

WESTON barmaids got their sponges out at the weekend for a car wash to raise money for a bone marrow charity.

Staff at The Windsor Castle pub in Upper Church Road held the event in aid of the Anthony Nolan charity, after barmaid Ruth Bale’s sister Vicki Schroeder was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia last year.

Ruth, aged 29, of Locking Road, is hoping to raise £4,000 for the charity after securing a place in the London Marathon next year.

Barmaids washed more than 20 cars, raising £270 towards the target in the process.
