Barn fire in Somerset

PUBLISHED: 10:17 05 July 2011

A DIESEL tank had to be protected by firefighters after a blaze broke out in a barn in Somerset.

Four appliances from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were sent to the building in Charterhouse, near Blagdon, after an emergency call was made at 8.50am today (Tues).

A barn full of wood shavings had caught alight and crews are still at the site protecting a nearby diesel tank from the heat.

The flames have now been extinguished using a water supply from a nearby lake and the area is being dampened down to prevent the risk of a fire re-starting
