A NATIONAL children's charity will be introducing play rangers to a Weston park for some fun activities.

Barnardo’s aims to promote outdoor play for children on the Coronation estate, building their self-confidence, reducing isolation and encouraging them to make new friends.

The play rangers will be at Jubilee Park every Thursday from 3.30-5pm starting today (Thurs) and will be getting children involved in sports and team games.

Barnardo’s team leader, Anthony Hill, said: “Play rangers have proved to be a very effective way of engaging young people.

“This will be the first time the charity has provided them in North Somerset and the benefits are enormous.

“Children can enjoy playing together in a safe environment, strengthening local communities and learning how to manage conflict.”

Play ranger sessions, which have been provided through grants from North Somerset Council, are aimed at children aged five to 16 years old, and younger children can enjoy the fun if they are accompanied by an adult.

There are no specific timetables and activities are shaped by what the young people want on the day.

For further information or to find out how to support the service, call Barnardo’s on 01934 415374 or email Daniel.matthews@barnardos.org.uk
