A MAN whose body was found on Weston beach on Saturday drowned, a police post-mortem has indicated.

The body of man in his 20s was discovered at around 6.20am on Saturday morning on the sands near Knightstone Island and police cordoned off parts of the pavement around Knightstone Causeway.

A police spokesman said: “A post-mortem was held, which indicated death due to drowning.

“The death is not being regarded as suspicious and it has been referred to the coroner as a sudden death.

“We are continuing to make enquiries.”
