A DAUGHTER is walking in memory of her mother for a Weston charity.
Katie Coombs, aged 25, is walking the Weston Hospicecare Midnight Beach Walk for the third year running.
She is doing the walk after the hospicecare cared for her mum when she had breast cancer when Katie was nine.
Katie said: “When I was just nine when mum passed away at home following a breast cancer diagnosis.
“We had so much support from the hospicecare which was invaluable to me and my brother Chris.
“At the time I was very aware that the hospice was helping mum to come to terms with her illness but it’s now that I am older I can really appreciate everything that they did for our family.
“I am doing the midnight beach walk with my step-mum and my half sister who is 13.
“Dad has since passed away and so I will be remembering two very special people when I walk the five miles in September.
“I have done the walk before and it’s a really magical experience, it means a lot to me each year and I am hoping to raise lots of money for the hospice through sponsorship.”
The beach walk is happening on September 24.
It is a 5 mile walk along the beach from Uphill to Weston Grand Pier and back.
