A NORTH Somerset village was rife with competitive spirit during its annual spring show, held at the weekend.
Banwell Gardening Club hosted the contest to hunt out the best blooms in the parish at the village hall on Saturday.
Anyone from the village was able to enter, not just the members of the gardening club, which made for some tough competition.
As well as the usual daffodil, tulip, spring flower and pot plant classes, there were also floral art classes.
Banwell’s spring show proved once again it is not just for the green-fingered, as there was an Easter-themed art competition, as youngsters battled it out to create the best card, table decoration or hat.
The day also featured a craft section, including photography, painting and drawing – including a prize for under-15s.
After the judges decided the winning displays, the doors were opened to the public in the afternoon.
Home-made cakes, refreshments and raffle prizes all kept the crowds entertained before the trophies were handed out.
