A young guitar star from Congresbury has defied his tender age to raise hundreds of pounds for charity and make a little girl’s dream come true.

Ben Payne, aged eight, spent the summer busking and performing at festivals to raise money for children’s charity Make A Wish Foundation.

The St Andrew’s Primary School pupil is a burgeoning guitarist, with a taste for tunes by rock legends like Buddy Holly and Black Sabbath.

Ben’s sets at Busk In The Sun in Weston and Platform 1 Fest in Yatton earned £605 for the charity, which Ben recently discovered helped pay for a poorly girl called Tiegan to meet her hero, YouTube star Dan The Diamond Minecart.

Ben’s dad, Mark said Ben’s effort ‘started as a bit of fun to raise a few pounds’.

He said: “A huge thank you to everyone who supported him along the way, every penny, every round of applause and every door opened for him made it a summer he won’t forget.”
