More than 80 volunteers took in part in Berrow’s first organised beach clean.

Set up by the Friends of Berrow Beach, people battled against the adverse weather to fill hundreds of sacks with rubbish found across the coastline.

A spokesman for Friends of Berrow Beach said: “It is fantastic to see such strong community spirit and to hear so many people saying how much they enjoyed the morning.

“Beach cleans are a great way of connecting communities to their coastline and to highlighting the plight we face from marine plastics particularly.

“If we all do our bit, both at home and on the beach, we will be one step closer to being litter free.”

Berrow has followed in the footsteps of Burnham by staging a community beach clean, and Brean will be next, on Saturday at 10am.
