SIX of the country's best beers could whet the lips of ale fans at a festival this summer. Organisers of the Wedmore Real Ale Festival are trying to secure category winners from this year's Great British Beer Festival, which is being held in London, to give extra froth to their event in September. The ales, in the categories mild, bitter, best bitter, golden ale, strong ale and speciality ale, will be highly sought after by other festivals around the country. The Wedmore team will try to secure the winners through a number of suppliers after the London festival which is taking place in August. There will be 50 ales in all on offer during the Wedmore festival, which will be held from September 15-17. Extra barrels will be brought in this year to prevent the taps running dry - a problem at last year's celebration. In addition, six barrels of award winning beer will be kept in reserve for the lunchtime jazz event on the Sunday.
